BE! #7: Bubble Based Boy on Fresh Filter

Last year, I got invited to play live on radio. It was the 24th of September, 2014. I played two original numbers and got interviewed by the host, Russ Davis. The name of his show is Fresh Filter. He features mainly artists/bands from the local scene (OPM).

I was also with Deej Rodriguez who accompanied me through the performance on his percussions.

"Seven x Six" and "Google Glass" were part of the setlist. Listen to one of the two tracks right here.
Follow him on the cloud, check out the rest!

BE! #6: A Piece of Musical Information: Rhythm: So What?

After hearing, seeing and reading through things related to this Blog Entry, I have decided to come up with this short list of what one can do with Rhythm as to give more value to it and ideas to anyone who composes as well.

Rhythms contain Thoughts
Rhythms can be the Actual Thoughts

BE! #4 File Under: "Waking Up To A Picture, A Scene, Consciousness"

I felt that I should post this latest idea of mine as a blog entry which expresses more or less what my View of Reality is, and more importantly I prove it is somewhat Musical, if not entirely as I believe it is. I think this piece will definitely compliment my Philosophy of Life that is why I want to keep track of it by immortalizing it here on my blogspace.

What started this? How did this come to be?

I should mention that, ever since I got involved with the actual experience of Writing, I have gained a sense of enthusiasm that I learned and felt it is Personal. It lead me, currently which is my theme, to wanting to understand the Nature of RealTime. Having learned the basics of Music Theory, it has helped me in capturing my Internal Musical Thoughts more clearly as compared to verbally articulating them and with not enough terms in my vocabulary.

Some writing experiments that I get into frequently are Transcriptions in/on the External World VS Recorded Music/Sounds VS Internal World. This particular entry is a blossomed germ of my regular experiment exercise Transcription on the Internal World.

Not so long ago, February or January 2014, I found myself in a thinking mood that I couldn't put myself to sleep. If I'm right, I was trying to figure out something that needs to be resolved so then I could feel more at peace that I would fall asleep. Interestingly, whatever it is, I wasn't able to record it in writing only until the next day. After my successful sleep, it fortunately resonated as I tried to deliver the message through performance to one of the friends I met lately. And as a reaction to my enthusiasm and curiosity, I played it again but to different audiences, casually.

I remember playing the unwritten idea to myself initially when I was thinking about it. What happened afterwards were all just reenactments of the original beta performance which is when I was in bed, eyes closed, blinking funnily and unusually to sleep.

What is this? What are the things that are involved in this figure that made me consider that it is a Musical Piece?

Visually speaking, Rhythm is present with simple note values and rests: Crotchet, Dotted Crotchet, Dotted Minim, Semibreve; Crotchet Rest and Dotted Crotchet Rest. Tempo is indicated, similar to the speed of the Clock's Tick-Tocks in seconds. Whole idea is presented in 4 Bars. Musical instrument and Color are somewhat indirectly indicated which are meant to exist that way for the purpose of not spoiling the whole presentation.

What are the things that should be kept in mind before trying to decipher what the main message is?
Subjects vary infinitely and uniquely relative to where the player is
Keep an Open Mind.
It is a 4-Bar play.
Ideally the reader is the Musician/Player, the Audience is his Mind.
The whole play may or not work for every audience that they would find it just a silly joke.

BE! #3: Yesterday's Realisation = Google Glass, an iBe!

I have always been a fan of Science. It makes me understand and appreciate Reality and Life from the humblest perspective. It is my Candle in the Dark.

Technology is gift. It is a product of the mind. It consequently transforms culture and its people from Lifestyles to Medical advancements. I read somewhere that technology is like hammer. It can be really useful but also be destructive. It all lies on the purpose of that person. I generally benefit from it and I try to take advantage of it whenever possible and needed.

I like watching films and my thought of isolating just the Video Subject from the others around it would be perfect for my experience because other visual things in my line of sight are a distraction. This kind of technology has been imagined apparently since the 1860s. In the 1960's, developers have introduced a visual flight simulator for the Air Force. In the 1980's, Game Developers came up with interactive Virtual Gaming Systems for consumers.

Ever since I heard about Smart Glasses, I started doing my research. I searched in Google and Youtube all the articles that are related to Virtual, Augmented Reality and Video Eyewear. Stumbled upon Vuzix and its interesting products. Quite excited I was, I realized I wanted to have one. Months after, in the news I hear Google was launching a new product. They have their own version.

Initially I would use it for my own to record images and videos to go with my Writing and Experiments. I believe it would help me in my documentation experience as I will not have to use my hands in recording important moments as opposed to just using a Smart Phone or a Camera. It seems unique, futuristic and powerful. It will be a great privilege for people to own such device.

Here are the earliest written thoughts and Rhythm ideas for my song, "Google Glass".

BE! #2

For the second entry, I wanted to post my 1st ever Radio Show I uploaded on Mixcloud entitled: "Alternation in Vocals: Male-Female". It is 31 minutes and 28 seconds in length. I featured mostly some of my favorite Ballads in this pilot episode. For everyone's useful information I will be indicating the Playlist in the Transcription:

"It's a fine afternoon and I always feel like listening to some good Music. Here are some of my favorite tunes I want to post as a playlist idea for anyone who is in the same mood as me right now.

I'd like to start off with something happy. It's a tune recorded by Boyd Raeburn & His Orchestra in 1946. Vocal play by David Allyn. Composition and Arrangement by George Handy.

And now all you need to do is just Sit back, relax. Grab a coffee or probably some wine. Enjoy the show.
'I Don't Care Who Knows It' plays..

Moving on now with my radio proper program called:
Alternation in Vocals: Male-Female-Male-Female
Here is Ann Richards with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, singing 'Speak Low'

Here is a beautiful melody, sung by an original member of the Four Freshmen. He plays trumpet and sings mainly Baritone. This is Hal Kratzsch with 'Stella By Starlight'

A 1936 song composed by Richard Rodgers, with lyrics by  Lorenz Hart. Here is June Christy with 'There's A Small Hotel'

A Hi-fidelity 1950's recording of a 1941 Standard written by Henry Nemo. A personal favorite of the next male singer I'm going to feature. Beautiful arrangement by Pete Rugolo, This is Ken Errair!
'Don't Take Your Love From Me' plays..

Bobby Troup wrote many great Standards such as of course, 'Route 66' recorded by a number of artists. And now here is Bobby Troup's wife singing 'The Good Life'

A rare track now which was released after the death of this next male singer. He played guitar in this recording. His name is Don Barbour.
'Where Are You' plays..

As an intermission breather, I'd like to feature now a personal recording of mine from November, last year. Music by Henry Mancini: 'Moon River'

Going back now to the professional recordings. Here is the Queen of Swing Ella Fitzgerald with a Cole Porter composition, 'What Is This Thing Called Love'

And that is all folks! Thank you for listening to my program, The Arranger's Corner. I'll see you in the future on my next Radio Mix. This is Bubblebasedboy saying..
'Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye' plays.. "
